The spark
I grew up with a single mother and siblings who did everything she could to give us a decent life. Like many families, housing was one of our biggest struggles. We all lived in one room for the longest time, later two rooms, and finally a more proper home (a family friend owned the property and we didn’t have to deal with agent’s hassle or extra charges).
Along the way, I saw challenges that countless families and property owners still face today: tenants battling fraud, hidden fees, and rigid rent structures that don’t match how people actually earn; and property owners struggling with unreliable rent collection, poor visibility, and recurring disputes over maintenance.
These experiences shaped my vision for Urstate. That’s why we’re building a system where trust, not chance, drives where people live.
